A former care worker from Edinburgh has seen his prison sentence significantly increased to a total of ten years after an initial six-year term was considered too lenient by the court.

Gordon Collins, aged 60, was found guilty of subjecting four vulnerable teenage girls to abuse over a period exceeding ten years while employed at residential care facilities in Edinburgh.

The court heard that Collins’s pattern of grooming and exploitation extended over a span of more than 11 years, during which he betrayed the trust placed in him by the families and the community.

His actions, which involved manipulating and abusing young girls under his care, have been described as a gross breach of professional and moral boundaries.

Prosecutors emphasized that Collins showed no remorse for his actions, further aggravating his case.
