Grimsby Leeds Great Coates Sexual Abuser
In October 2010, a disturbing case emerged involving Glenn Simons, a dentist with connections to Great Coates, Grimsby, and Leeds, who faced severe professional repercussions due to his involvement with illegal and morally reprehensible material. Simons, aged 43 and a father to a two-year-old son, had previously been struck off the dental register four years prior after admitting to the possession and purchase of child abuse images. Despite this, he made a third attempt to regain his license to practice dentistry, but his bid was firmly rejected by the disciplinary panel.
Simons, who had worked in the coastal town of Cleethorpes, was found to have accessed websites that hosted vile images depicting children as young as ten. The panel revealed that he had purchased a total of 320 such images, which ranged in age from 10 to 15 years old. Among these, six images were classified as level four, indicating a severity just one step below the most extreme category of abuse images. His activities involved multiple visits to these sites, specifically through a notorious portal called Landslide, which was eventually shut down after US authorities raided its Texas headquarters.
Further investigations uncovered that Simons, who was divorced and formerly resided on Blackthorn Drive in Great Coates, attempted to access the same illegal site an additional five times. His attempts were thwarted when police traced his credit card transactions back to him, leading to his identification and subsequent arrest. The authorities' efforts highlighted the extent of his engagement with these illicit materials and his repeated attempts to access them despite previous bans.
The disciplinary panel, chaired by Gill Madden, expressed strong disapproval of Simons' actions. Madden stated, “It is only this week that you have been prepared to face up to the consequences of your actions. You appear to be in denial regarding the implications of your action in paying for materials resulting from the exploitation and abuse of children and young people.” She emphasized the gravity of his misconduct, noting that such behavior is utterly unacceptable for a professional in the dental field. Madden further remarked, “This kind of behaviour is reprehensible for a dentist and brings the profession into disrepute. It undermines public confidence in the profession.”
Ultimately, the panel concluded that Simons’ repeated offenses and failure to demonstrate genuine remorse or understanding of the harm caused made him unfit to return to his profession, reinforcing the strict stance against such criminal conduct within the healthcare community.
