GLENN JONES OF REDDITCH JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY SCANDAL
In a case that has shocked the Redditch community, Glenn Jones, a 54-year-old resident of Winyates Green, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison after admitting to the sexual assault of a six-year-old girl.The incident, which occurred nearly two years prior to his sentencing, was part of a broader pattern of disturbing behavior that included the possession and viewing of thousands of indecent images of children.
During proceedings at Worcester Crown Court, it was revealed that Jones’s computers contained over 3,000 indecent images, some of the most severe and explicit types.
Among these were ten images depicting his young victim, one of which showed her in a dress without underwear, highlighting the disturbing nature of his abuse.
The court also uncovered that Jones had been involved in viewing child pornography dating back to 2004, with a total of 14 allegations linked to his online activity.
Judge Michael Cullum addressed the court, emphasizing that the sexual assault was not an isolated act but part of a deeper, more troubling pattern.
He stated that Jones’s secret habit of viewing child pornography had been exposed through his recent actions.
The judge condemned the viewing of such material as a form of abuse that perpetuates harm to children, and he described Jones’s physical assault on the young girl as “unforgivable.” Judge Cullum further explained that what might seem like a fleeting physical act had a much more serious background, causing enduring trauma to the victim.
He highlighted that crossing the line from online abuse to physical assault resulted in lifelong damage to the girl, underscoring the severity of Jones’s crimes.
In addition to his prison sentence, Jones was ordered to serve half of his term before being eligible for parole, with the remainder on supervised release.
He was also placed on the sexual offences register and received a ten-year restriction on contact with children.
The court’s decision reflects the gravity of his offenses and the need to protect the community from further harm.
Prosecutor Peter Grice detailed the nature of the assault, stating that Jones had touched the girl intimately while she sat on his lap.
The victim later confided in her parents, who promptly reported the incident to the police.
Following the investigation, authorities discovered the extensive collection of illegal images on Jones’s computers, including 58 “extreme” images depicting sexual acts involving animals.
Additional illicit images were found on his mobile phone.
Initially, Jones denied any sexual activity with the child, but he eventually pleaded guilty in November, while awaiting trial.
His guilty plea marked a significant step in the case, which has brought to light the disturbing extent of his criminal behavior and the profound impact on his young victim.
