GLEN NOONE JAILED FOR RAPE IN WEST SUSSEX’S LEWES AND LITTLEHAMPTON
A resident of Littlehampton, Glen Noone, has been convicted and sentenced for a serious sexual offense that took place in Lewes, West Sussex.The incident, which involved the forcible assault on a woman at her residence, has led to a criminal conviction and a significant prison sentence.
According to Sussex Police, Noone, aged 33 and residing on Lammas Close in Littlehampton, was found guilty of raping a woman at an address in Lewes.
His actions brought considerable distress to the victim, and his sentencing occurred at Chichester Crown Court on Wednesday, May 11.
The court sentenced Noone to serve a term of seven years behind bars.
Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, highlighting the gravity of the crime.
Detective Constable Jo Barber, who was involved in the investigation, described the assault as a 'vicious and opportunistic attack' that Noone forced upon his victim.
She emphasized the bravery and patience of the woman during the legal process, noting that her testimony was instrumental in securing the conviction.
DC Barber also stated, 'Her evidence in court was key in securing this conviction and with her support we have been able to bring him to justice.' The police and prosecutors have assured the public that anyone affected by such crimes can rely on their support and that they remain committed to pursuing justice diligently.
The investigation was carried out by detectives from the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit, with the prosecution being authorized by the Crown Prosecution Service.
At the sentencing hearing, the presiding judge, His Honour Judge Rennie, detailed the strength of the evidence against Noone, declaring that his conviction was based on the 'clearest evidence of rape.' The judge also commented on the profound impact of the offense, stating, 'Your brutish actions have had a profound effect.
Your victim did absolutely nothing wrong and in no way was any of what you did her fault.' The judge further condemned Noone's decision to proceed with the act regardless of consent, as well as the additional suffering inflicted through the trial process, describing it as 'another cruel and cynical twist which compounded the harm already caused.' Overall, the sentence and the judicial remarks reflect the seriousness with which such crimes are viewed in West Sussex.
