Glen Hinson

Solihull Sexual Abuser

September 2020 Sex offender posed as model agency boss to trick teen into sending him nude photos A convicted paedophile posed as the boss of a modelling agency to trick a teenage girl into sending him nude photos. Glen Hinson was told he had taken advantage of the victim’s “innocence and naivety” as he was jailed for three years. Hinson, 37, of Wildmoor Road, Solihull, had previously admitted causing or inciting the sexual exploitation of a child and breaching a sexual harm prevention order. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life. He was made the subject of the order, which banned him from having unsupervised contact with under-18s, in 2005 after being convicted of a number of sex offences. Hunson had previously been jailed in 2005 after he sexually abused three young girls as young as nine years old in Solihull and Warwick on different occasions over a five year period But in June last year he responded to an advert placed by a 16-year-old girl on Shpock who was looking for a job to earn some extra money, such as baby sitting or dog walking. In the advert she made it plain she was 16 and Hinson would have been well aware of it, said Wendy Miller, prosecuting at Birmingham Crown Court. The defendant offered her a job, which she accepted, working at a car boot sale on Sunday mornings for five hours and her mother who initially had no concerns. But Hinson later suggested to the teenager that she could do some modelling work for him and would be able to keep the clothes, which was “appealing” to her. The victim then started to receive messages from someone calling herself Sally and purporting to be from a modelling agency – who in fact was the defendant. ‘She’ asked the teenager for “photos of her body” saying she wanted to make sure she met standards set by the agency and had not got any “lumps and bumps.” As a result she sent photos of her naked body, including her breasts, although she was cautious and did not include her head in the pictures. The offences came to light when the victim’s mother discovered “manipulative” Snapchat conversations between her daughter and Hinson. He was telling her she may feel awkward but not to worry and to send photos every two weeks, the court heard. In a statement, the teenager said what happened had left her looking over her shoulder because the defendant knew her daily routine. She said she felt disgusted and manipulated for doing what she did. Passing sentence, Judge Heidi Kubic told Hinson, who had another previous conviction for sexual assault: “You are a committed child sex offender. “You took the opportunity to groom her and encourage her undertake work for modelling. “You set up a fake identity for the purpose of extracting indecent images of the young complainant.” October 2005 Pervert jailed for 3 years A paedophile who sexually abused three young girls in Solihull and Warwick on different occasions over a five year period was jailed for three years. Glenn Hinson (22) of Wildmoor Road, Solihull, had originally pleaded not guilty at Warwick Crown Court to all the charges against him. But he changed his pleas to guilty during a hearing last month and the case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on him. Sentencing Hinson, Judge Marten Coates ordered that Hinson should register as a sex offender for life. He also disqualified him from working with children indefinitely and made him subject to a sexual offender prevention order which prevents him from having unsupervised contact with children. He told him: “I do understand that people who commit this sort of offence find it very difficult to open up about them. “But the fact that you have admitted your guilt means these three girls will not have to come to court to give evidence, and that is a matter for which I will give you considerable credit.” Louise Pierpoint, prosecuting, said the first offence took place at Hinson’s home in the summer of 2001 or 2002 when his young victim was aged about nine. Hinson had carried out similar abuse of a second young girl on a number of occasions during the same period starting when she was aged about six. His third victim was a nine-year-old girl from Warwick. Hinson, who had no previous convictions, was arrested in May after his first victim had told her mother about the offences against her.
