September 2006 Ex-newsagent jailed for sex abuse A former newsagent convicted of sexually assaulting 12 boys over a period of more than a decade has been jailed for 16 years. Glen Goldspink, 43, of Bush Elms Road, Hornchurch, Essex, and Horning in Norfolk befriended the boys, offering them work and fishing trips. Goldspink was told he must serve at least two thirds of his sentence before he can be considered for parole. Judge Simon Barham, at Norwich Crown Court, described him as a “dangerous and scheming paedophile”. The judge also said he would consider compensation for the victims Goldspink will be put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and banned from working with children for life. The allegations came to light in September last year. A teenage boy told his brother he had been sexually assaulted by Mr Goldspink, the court heard. The older boy told his younger brother to tell their mother and the police were called. The majority of the offences took place in Norfolk, but some also happened in Essex. Goldspink was convicted of two rapes, six indecent assaults and nine other sex crimes, including sexual assaults and sexual activity with underage boys.
