GIDEON CURRIE AND SHOCKING CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN GLASGOW
Gideon Currie, who is now known by the alias Matthew Sweeney, has been placed on the sex offenders register for a period of 30 months following his conviction related to the unlawful photographing of children in Glasgow.
Currie, aged 20 and residing on Kirkwood Avenue, faced serious allegations after he admitted to taking or allowing the taking of, or making, indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of two minors.
The incident in question occurred on November 12 of the previous year, at his home address in Glasgow.
The case was heard at Dumbarton Sheriff Court, where Sheriff William Gallacher presided over the sentencing.
During the court proceedings, Currie acknowledged his culpability in the matter, leading to a sentencing that combined both custodial and rehabilitative measures.
As part of his punishment, Sheriff Gallacher ordered Currie to serve a community payback order.
This order mandates that he complete 30 months of supervision, during which authorities will monitor his conduct closely.
Additionally, he is required to perform 100 hours of unpaid community work within a six-month period.
Furthermore, in accordance with the charges and to ensure public safety, Currie’s name will be included on the sex offenders register for a duration of 30 months.
This registration is intended to keep local communities informed and to facilitate ongoing monitoring of his activities for the duration of this period.
