TAXI DRIVER JAILED FOR VIOLENT RAPES AFTER IMMIGRATION FRAUD
A man named Ghairat Khan, aged 26, who was a taxi driver and falsely claimed to be the son of a Taliban leader, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for committing violent rapes.Khan arrived in Teesside after threatening deportation in an ongoing immigration age dispute.
He staged a disappearance after immigration authorities doubted his claim that he was 15 years old when he entered the UK in 2005, alleging he is from Pakistan and that his stories are exaggerated.
Prosecutor Shaun Dodds revealed that Khan raped his victims multiple times and later threatened them via phone, claiming he had recruited followers to track them down.
During his trial at Teesside Crown Court, Khan, who used two aliases with different birth dates, insisted that the women falsely accused him.
The court heard he was arrested at Durham Tees Valley Airport returning from Afghanistan.
Victims testified that they suffered lasting trauma, with one stating she could not form relationships again, and the other saying she would suffer for the rest of her life.
Judge Howard Crowson described Khan as a violent individual and emphasized the offenses’ severity, particularly noting his awareness of the religious significance involved.
Khan had previously worked as a mechanic in Thornaby and was self-employed as a repairer and taxi driver.
He was sentenced to 18 years, ordered to register as a sex offender for life, and given an indefinite Sexual Offence’s Prevention Order.
