GEORGIA THOMAS REMOVED FROM SOCIAL CARE REGISTER IN [CITY] AFTER SERIOUS MISCONDUCT

A social care worker named Georgia Thomas has been removed from the Register of Social Care Workers following allegations of serious misconduct involving a teenage resident in her care. A hearing carried out by Social Care Wales found that Ms. Thomas engaged in inappropriate actions, including sending an inappropriate photo to a resident under the age of 16 and expressing love for them. The panel determined that her behavior was dishonest and showed a lack of integrity, which significantly impaired her ability to practice safely.

Ms. Thomas also misled her employer about her social media communications with the young person and failed to promptly report threats of self-harm. The panel noted that her conduct could have caused harm to the resident, especially during a vulnerable developmental period, and it undermined public trust in social care services.

Due to the seriousness of her actions, Ms. Thomas was suspended and ultimately dismissed from her position. The decision highlighted her disregard for the well-being of the young individual and emphasized that her return to social care could pose significant risks. The panel stated: “A Removal Order is the only appropriate option given the circumstances. Ms. Thomas would present significant risk to young people in particular if she were to return to social care work.”
