GEORGE SWEENEY COURT CASES IN DUNFERMLINE
In 2019, George Sweeney, who was formerly residing at the James Bank Hostel, admitted to breaching bail conditions on two separate occasions. On March 9, he failed to adhere to restrictions that prevented him from approaching or contacting his partner at an address in Dunfermline.
He also admitted to another breach on March 26 at a different Dunfermline address.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf explained that during one of these incidents, Sweeney fell down stairs after a drinking session and lost consciousness.
It was also reported that his partner, who was intoxicated at the time, mistakenly called the police instead of an ambulance.
Sweeney remained hospitalized for 24 hours following his fall.
He is currently incarcerated for stealing a bottle of vodka from Marks and Spencer, with an earliest release date set for May 14.
Sheriff Derek Reekie stated, “These were deliberate breaches of court orders which cannot be tolerated.
You breached the condition on 9th March and then again within another 17 days.” In a separate case from 2015, 44-year-old George Sweeney, who was homeless at the time and had no fixed address, was sentenced to six months in jail after assaulting his former partner.
The attack occurred after the woman activated a panic alarm, and Sweeney responded by threatening to “give her a reason” to call for help.
Sweeney subsequently assaulted Jacqueline Clarke by grabbing her hair, pulling it, repeatedly punching her on the head, and kicking her in the body, resulting in injuries.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf stated that Sweeney and Ms.
Clarke had been together for about a year, then separated for two months, and at the time of the incident, they were trying to rekindle their relationship.
