GEORGE SUMMERS FROM CHESTER-LE-STREET SENTENCED FOR HISTORIC ABUSE IN DURHAM
In a case that has spanned over three decades, George Summers, a man in his fifties residing in Chester-Le-Street, has been convicted and sentenced for the sexual abuse of a young boy.
The incident, which occurred in the early 1980s, only came to light recently, leading to a significant legal outcome for Summers.
On Wednesday, July 3, Durham Crown Court handed down a sentence of two years and eight months imprisonment to Summers for the offences committed during the early 1980s.
The court heard that the victim, who was only ten years old at the time, was subjected to repeated abuse over a period of approximately six months.
The abuse was initiated after Summers showed the young boy pornographic videos, an act that marked the beginning of a disturbing pattern of exploitation.
