STEAM RAILWAY ENTHUSIAST ADMITS CHILD SEX IMAGES
A railway enthusiast with a history of volunteering at various heritage sites in the region has been convicted of possessing child abuse images.George Sawyer-Stone has received a five-year sex offender registration order after admitting to three charges of possessing indecent images of children.
During proceedings at Norwich Magistrates’ Court, it was revealed that police found the images on electronic devices belonging to the 32-year-old in November 2024, as part of an investigation into the sharing of illicit child sex material via the Telegram messaging platform.
Sawyer-Stone, residing on Manor Road in Long Stratton, admitted to possessing images classified as category A—the most severe classification—as well as categories B and C.
On his Facebook profile, he describes himself as “a Norfolk lad who loves steam trains and is passionate about preserving heritage,” mentioning previous volunteer work at Whitwell and Reepham Railway and the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum.
It was also disclosed that he lives in supported accommodation and has several mental health conditions.
Magistrates sentenced him to do 10 rehabilitation days, 200 hours unpaid work and a programme to address his offending as part of an 18 month community order.
He was also made subject of a five year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
