GEORGE ROBINSON, SUNDERLAND PAEDOPHILE, BRANDED A DANGEROUS LIAR AFTER ANOTHER SEX ATTACK REVELATION
In July 2014, a Sunderland man named George Robinson, a convicted paedophile serving a 16-year sentence, was publicly labeled a dangerous liar following new convictions related to another schoolgirl victim.Robinson, 63 years old, was originally sentenced in 2012 for rapes and sexual assaults involving two girls under the age of 10.
He denied all charges.
During court proceedings at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday, he received an additional four-year prison sentence for attacks on an 11-year-old girl in the 1980s, which he also denied.
Because Robinson has never admitted his guilt, his victims have been compelled to relive their traumatic experiences by giving evidence in court.
Mr.
Recorder Jonathan Carroll addressed him after the sentencing, stating, “Throughout this trial, you have shown no remorse or regret for your behaviour towards that child.
You have told lies and those lies have been supported by further, obvious lies from your wife, who no doubt was telling hers in support of you at your instigation.
There is no one that should leave this room without the impression that you are a serial and committed paedophile, and that children are not safe in your presence.” The court was informed that Robinson’s four-year sentence would not affect his earliest possible release date, which remains in 2019.
However, the judge emphasized that this does not diminish the significance of the convictions for indecent assault and indecency with a child, charges he denied during a four-day trial.
The judge commented, “The point is, the complainant has been brave enough to come forward and give evidence, she has put it on record what you have done to her.
That has been listened to by this jury and accepted, and you stand convicted of it.
She has been heard in public, believed, and I hope she takes considerable comfort in that.” The victim, whose identity is protected, expressed feelings of “shock and horror” over Robinson's actions and revealed it took her years to gain the courage to speak out.
The court also noted that Robinson, who was formerly resident on Athol Road in Sunderland, suffers from heart problems and other health issues, which are expected to worsen during his time in prison.
