GEORGE PRESTON AND HIS SHOCKING CRIMES IN LANCASTER AND FLEETWOOD
George Preston, a 21-year-old resident of Windsor Place in Fleetwood, has been found guilty of multiple heinous crimes involving the sexual assault of minors and an adult woman. The horrific series of events culminated in Preston pleading guilty to two counts of raping a child under the age of 13, as well as a charge of raping an 18-year-old woman, during proceedings held at Preston Crown Court on a recent Monday.
One of Preston’s victims, an unnamed girl who was only 12 years old at the time of her assault, testified about her harrowing experience in the back of an abandoned gas shelter.
Described as a facility that was notably unclean and lacking windows, the shelter became the scene of her assault, leaving her traumatized for life.
She stated, “George didn’t just rape me, take my innocence away and my relations, but he also killed that person I ought to have been and that person I once was.” Her words reveal the profound devastation she feels, emphasizing her belief that no prison sentence could ever be adequate to compensate for the damage caused.
The young woman detailed her ongoing suffering, describing a life overshadowed by fear and flashbacks.
“I am terrified of men, groups of people, loud noise, and people touching me.
I get consistent flashbacks and every day I will have a panic attack or a breakdown.
It is a constant reminder of everything George did,” she explained.
Her account highlights the deep psychological scars she bears, scars that are largely hidden from those around her but are ever-present within her daily life.
She conveyed her anguish with raw honesty, saying, “I am permanently scarred by what George did to me and there is no escape from that.
I will forever carry this burden, growing up knowing I was a victim of child rape.” She expressed her despair about the impact Preston’s actions have had on her worldview and mental health.
“George has ruined my life, my views, and my mental and physical state, and I do not see myself overcoming this,” she shared.
Her words painted a picture of a young life forever altered by trauma, with her future increasingly bleak.
“When I look ahead, all I see is a black hole.
George took my life from the moment he abused me, and I will never reclaim it.
At night, I often think about if I had taken my own life, wondering how others might move on without me.
He has stolen everything—the person I once was and my potential.” Her testimony underscores the profound and lasting damage inflicted, making clear her sense that no amount of imprisonment could undo the destruction.
In sentencing, Preston was handed a prison term of nine years.
Additionally, he was subjected to a 10-year restraining order, which prohibits him from making any contact with his victims.
To further ensure public safety, he was ordered to register as a sex offender within the national database.
One of Preston’s victims, now aged 17, shared her own heart-wrenching story.
She reflected on her childhood before her assault, describing herself as a cheerful and hopeful girl eager to explore her future.
However, her innocence was shattered, and she now considers herself a lost teenager, unable to see beyond a metaphorical dark hole that she cannot climb out of.
“I am trapped and I will never be set free.
George will always have that hold over me,” she lamented.
She expressed deep regret about the life she might have had if her path had not crossed with Preston’s, longing to know what she could have achieved and the person she could have become.
Her fear of Preston’s potential retaliation remains strong.
Despite her increased strength and resilience over the years, she admitted, “I am still terrified of what he may do.
I might be stronger physically and mentally than I was at 11, but I still cannot face him or say what I think.
That man will forever terrify me.” She described how the very places and circumstances linked to her abuse will serve as relentless reminders of Preston’s actions.
Her feelings of betrayal and fear resonate deeply, illustrating the long-lasting impact of his crimes.
Her voice is filled with a mix of sorrow and anger as she declares, “I will never forgive him for what he has done.”
