GEORGE MCCLELLAND FROM HIGH WYCOMBE AND LANCASHIRE FACES GROOMING CHARGES IN COURT
A young man from the University of Lincoln is currently standing trial on serious allegations involving the grooming of underage girls through the social networking platform Bebo.The defendant, George McClelland, aged 25, has entered a plea of not guilty to four charges that accuse him of meeting a child following acts of sexual grooming.
These alleged incidents are said to have taken place over a period from March to June of the previous year.
According to the prosecution, Julie Warburton, McClelland engaged in online communications with teenage girls, initiating conversations that quickly turned to sexual topics.
The authorities have revealed that McClelland targeted girls aged 13, 14, and 15, establishing contact with them through the social media site.
During the course of these interactions, he reportedly asked one girl for her bra size and inquired about her sexual experiences, including how many boys she had been with.
Furthermore, it is alleged that McClelland traveled from his home area to places such as Boston and Sleaford with the intent of meeting the girls he had contacted online.
These trips are part of the evidence presented against him, illustrating a pattern of behavior aimed at establishing physical meetings with minors.
In the courtroom, the jury found McClelland guilty of three charges related to meeting a child after engaging in sexual grooming.
However, he was acquitted of one similar charge, indicating that the evidence was insufficient to convict on that particular count.
The case highlights the ongoing concerns about online grooming and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable minors from exploitation through digital platforms.
