Chichester Sexual Abuser Rapist
A man from Chichester, identified as George De Bath, has been convicted in connection with a series of serious crimes involving the abuse and control of five women over a span of several years. The offences, which took place between 2015 and 2019, included physical violence, sexual assault, and psychological manipulation, leaving a trail of trauma among the victims.

De Bath, aged 25 and residing on North Mead in Chichester, targeted women who were mostly in their twenties at the time of the crimes, but who were in their mid to late teens when the abuse began. His pattern of behaviour was characterized by an attempt to dominate every aspect of their lives, from dictating who they could see and when, to controlling their clothing choices. His methods of exerting power included threats, violence, and intimidation, with some incidents involving the use of a knife and assaults so severe that victims lost consciousness.

The victims endured a range of abusive tactics. Some were prevented from attending their workplaces, while others had their movements monitored through their mobile phones. In a particularly disturbing act, De Bath would lock victims inside his car and drive recklessly, further asserting control and instilling fear.

Four of the women reported being raped or sexually assaulted by De Bath, with some victims experiencing these assaults multiple times. The first report emerged in April 2018 when one woman contacted Sussex Police, revealing that she had been subjected to abuse over several months. She also took the initiative to warn other women connected to De Bath, sharing her experiences and seeking to prevent further victims.

Following her report, police arrested De Bath and placed him on bail under strict conditions while they collected evidence. During the investigation, authorities reached out to the other women identified by the initial victim, which led to the identification of four additional victims. The case grew more complex as evidence was gathered.

In January 2024, after a detailed and lengthy investigation, De Bath was formally charged with multiple serious offences. These included six counts of rape, eight counts of actual bodily harm, five counts of coercive and controlling behaviour, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of false imprisonment, and one count of making threats to kill. He was remanded into custody pending trial.

On Tuesday, 29 April, De Bath faced a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court. The jury found him guilty of all charges except one count of actual bodily harm, for which he was acquitted. The court scheduled his sentencing for Friday, 11 July, where he will face the consequences of his actions in a formal hearing.
