GEORGEWODDLEY JAILED IN WOKING FOR ABDUCTING AND ABUSING 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In May 2010, Geoffrey David Wadley, aged 38, was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison after being convicted of raping and sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl, whom he also had sex with in front of another child. Wadley, a father of two young daughters, carried out his abuse at his home in Sheerwater between 2007 and 2009. His criminal history includes a prior conviction for slitting a man’s throat with a meat cleaver, which led to his recent release from prison.

During a court hearing at Guildford Crown Court on April 30, prosecutor Heather Norton detailed Wadley’s extensive offences, which included 14 counts of sexual offences against children, all of which he pleaded guilty to. Wadley also previously admitted to raping a heavily pregnant teenager in the early 1990s.

The prosecutor explained that Wadley's first sexual encounter with the victim occurred while he was looking after her at his house on Devonshire Avenue. She disclosed to the court that Wadley exposed himself and asked her to touch him, a request she complied with out of confusion. "The victim said she did, but didn’t really know what to do," Ms. Norton stated.

The court further heard that Wadley had also touched a friend of the victim in a sexual manner, attempting to involve her in a threesome. On another occasion, the victim was raped at Wadley's residence after bringing another friend over. Ms. Norton revealed, "The friend said she heard the victim say ‘No, no, no, I don’t want to have sex with you. My friend’s in the next room.’"

Following the assault, Wadley reportedly warned the victim and her friend not to speak about what had happened, adding, "you know what will happen if you do." This intimidation was compounded when another friend of the victim witnessed Wadley and the girl engaged in oral and penetrative sex, and was later sexually assaulted herself. Ms. Norton explained that during this incident, Wadley put his hand down the girl’s trousers.

The victim’s friend, after calling the police, led to Wadley's arrest on January 31 of the previous year. A statement read in court by the now 17-year-old victim expressed her devastation: "He took away my childhood and I can never get that back."

Judge Peter Moss sentenced Wadley, condemning his actions as those of a man who had "debauched" and "corrupted" an innocent girl struggling emotionally. Wadley’s prison term includes the requirement that he serves at least half before being eligible for release under a four-year supervised licence.

PC Paula Hayward commented, "This sentence has resulted in a devious, insidious offender being taken off the streets of Woking where he had become a predatory paedophile. It has been an extremely difficult time for his victims waiting for the conclusion of this case, and it is to their credit that they found the strength and willpower to report this dangerous individual."
