Geoffrey Baker

Crewe Trentham Sexual Abuser

April 2016 Convicted Trentham paedophile jailed  A CONVICTED serial paedophile has been jailed after quizzing stunned leisure centre staff about what time schoolchildren had their swimming lessons. Serial pervert Geoffrey Baker, 53, has been jailed a number of times for sex offences against youngsters and for storing thousands of disgusting images of children. But Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard he left staff at Nuffield Heath, Trentham speechless last February when he asked them about local schoolchildren’s swimming times. Baker, formerly of Eastwick Crescent, Trentham, has a history of sexual offences and he was jailed in 2012 for having indecent images on his home computer. Now he has been jailed for 12 months after admitting breaching his Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) by coming into contact with children in Trentham, Staffs. Prosecutor Julian Taylor explained: “He joined Nuffield gym and asked a member of staff when the children’s swimming times were. “But was recognised after seeing reports on him on our database and a member of staff then contacted the police.” Baker went to the family-friendly gym three times between February 7 and 9 and watched children in the pool from the cafe during his last visit. Hamish Noble, defending, said Baker was “overconfident in his ability to control himself.” Jailing Baker, Judge David Fletcher told him he was “devious and manipulative.” The court heard Baker has a long record of sexual offences stretching back to 1995 when he was jailed for eight years for indecent assaults on boys. May 2012 Pervert who defied a court order by continuing to download thousands of indecent images of children, is back behind bars A MAN who defied a court order by continuing to download thousands of indecent images of children is back behind bars. Geoffrey Baker, 49, formally from Crewe, was sentenced to two years at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, May 22, for breaching his Sexual Offences Prevention Order and making, possessing and distributing indecent images. He pleaded guilty to the offences at an earlier hearing. Officers were alerted by West Midland′s Police to the fact Baker was using an online file sharing site to access indecent images. On 16 January 2012 officers executed a warrant at an address in Winsford, which Baker had been visiting, and seized a mobile internet dongle, CDs, a USB stick and laptop. Baker was then arrested for breaching his order. He was later charged with the further offences connected to indecent images and was remanded in custody. When police they examined the items seized they discovered 3,412 images, 785 of them had been made available for distribution via the site. DC Rick Deakin from Cheshire Police′s Paedophile Unit said: “Baker had been convicted of having and making indecent images in 2010 and had been subject to an order which prevented him from doing this again or having any contact with children. “He ignored the order and is now paying the consequences. “We will continue to work with other forces to ensure that Sexual Prevention Orders are upheld in order to protect children and young people. “Anyone who takes part in this deviant and depraved behaviour should think again. We will come knocking at your door.”
