GREGORY AND GARY REA FROM BELFAST SHOCK NEIGHBOURS WITH CHILD ABUSE CRIMES
In April 2022, the community in Belfast was left stunned and disturbed by the revelation of criminal activities involving two local brothers, Gary Rea, aged 61, and Gregory Rea, aged 69.The brothers, residents of the Gilnahirk area in east Belfast, were found to possess thousands of indecent images depicting children being sexually abused, a discovery that led to their arrest and subsequent court proceedings.
Police raids on their residence uncovered a disturbing collection of illegal material, which included extreme pornographic images involving minors.
The severity of their crimes was underscored by the fact that they faced a total of 42 counts related to the creation and possession of such illicit content.
The nature of these offenses not only violated the law but also deeply shocked the local community, which had previously regarded the Rea brothers as ordinary residents.
