BURNLEY MAN TO BE SENTENCED OVER MALPAS SEXUAL ASSAULT

Cheshire Police have expressed their support following the conviction of 41-year-old Gary Taylor of Belvedere Road, Burnley, who was found guilty on Thursday, July 16, of one count of assault by penetration.

The incident occurred on January 18, 2024, when he approached a woman in a Malpas bar, made inappropriate sexual comments, and then sexually assaulted her in a bathroom as she attempted to leave.

Taylor was detained two days later at his residence in Burnley.

He is scheduled to be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on September 11.

The police commended the victim’s courage and highlighted that justice has been achieved.
