GARY NATHAN SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN NORWICH
In a significant legal development, Gary Nathan, a 52-year-old resident of Norwich, has been handed a life sentence following his conviction for a series of serious sexual offences committed in May 2017.The sentencing took place on Monday, 19 November, at Norwich Crown Court, marking a decisive outcome in a case that drew considerable public and media attention.
Gary Nathan, who resides on Pottergate in Norwich, had previously pleaded guilty in May 2018 to multiple charges, including two counts of robbery, assault, unlawful imprisonment, sexual touching, and five counts of sexual assault.
These offences were all committed over a two-day period, specifically on the 9th and 10th of May, 2017.
The court heard that the first incident occurred on 9 May at an address in Damocles Court, Norwich.
During this attack, Nathan sexually assaulted a woman, then proceeded to tie her to her bed, effectively imprisoning her.
Following this, he robbed her, taking valuables and cash, leaving her traumatized and vulnerable.
The following day, on 10 May, Nathan carried out another violent act, this time targeting a man in his own home located in Wellington Green, Norwich.
The assault was unprovoked, and Nathan threatened the victim with a knife, creating an atmosphere of terror.
During this attack, he assaulted the man and stole cash from his residence.
Today’s sentencing mandates that Nathan will serve a minimum of 10 years behind bars before he becomes eligible for parole, reflecting the severity of his crimes.
The judge emphasized the gravity of the offences and the impact on the victims, underscoring the importance of justice being served in this case.
