GARY MOORE'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN BOURNEMOUTH AND LEIGHTON BUZZARD: A LONG HISTORY OF ABUSE REVEALED

In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Bournemouth and Leighton Buzzard, Gary Moore, a man with a troubling history of sexual offenses against minors, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after a series of heinous crimes spanning several years.

Moore, aged 56 and currently residing on Florence Road in Bournemouth, was convicted of seven separate sex offenses committed against two underage girls in Leighton Buzzard. The crimes took place over an extended period, from 2004 to 2012, and involved some of the most severe forms of sexual assault. One of his victims was as young as three years old, while the other was between six and ten years old at the time of the abuse.

The court heard that Moore’s criminal activities included oral rape, vaginal rape, and sexual assaults involving penetration. Specifically, he was found guilty of performing oral rape on a girl aged between 8 and 10, and again on an 11 to 12-year-old girl. He also engaged in sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, and committed a single act of vaginal rape on a girl aged 6 to 10. Further charges included assault by penetration on a girl aged 8 to 10, and another assault by penetration on an 11 to 12-year-old girl. The most disturbing charge involved sexual activity with a child aged 13 to 15, along with an assault by penetration on a child aged 3 to 6.

During the court proceedings at Luton Crown Court, prosecutor Edward Renvoize detailed the manipulative tactics Moore used, including offering chocolates or Turkish Delight to one girl in exchange for sexual acts. He also described how Moore was very forceful and verbally abusive towards another girl, telling her she was beautiful in a manner that suggested coercion.

Moore’s criminal record predates these offenses. In 2012, he was sentenced to six years in prison for similar crimes involving two girls under 13, one of whom was just nine years old. His previous conviction included charges of sexual assault and possession of indecent images of children. Despite serving time, Moore’s criminal behavior persisted, leading to his arrest in July of the previous year when further offenses came to light, some against the same victims.

When he appeared before the court last month, Moore pleaded guilty to all charges, which resulted in a significant sentence of 18 years imprisonment, with an additional two-year license period. This means that upon release, he remains under supervision and can be recalled to prison at any time within the next 20 years if he breaches the terms of his license.

During the sentencing, Judge Michael Kay QC emphasized the severity of Moore’s crimes, highlighting the betrayal of trust and the lasting harm inflicted on his victims. The court also noted Moore’s previous incarceration in 2012, which underscores a pattern of predatory behavior that has persisted over many years.

In a related case from September 2012, Moore, then aged 51 and residing in Peel Close, Verwood, Dorset, was jailed for six years after admitting to sexually assaulting two girls in Leighton Buzzard. One of these victims was a nine-year-old girl, and the abuse spanned over five years. Moore pleaded guilty to charges including assault by penetration on a girl under 13, sexual assaults on girls under 13 and under 16, and possession of indecent images of children. His arrest was prompted by a woman who confronted him about the indecent images found on his portable PlayStation. Following his arrest, Moore was found sitting under a tree after ingesting Paracetamol tablets and some rum, and he later admitted to abusing the girls after receiving hospital treatment. Moore’s actions have left a dark mark on the communities of Bournemouth and Leighton Buzzard, and his lengthy imprisonment aims to protect the public from further harm.
