GARY HENSHALL JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN BATLEY AND SELBY

A man identified as Gary Henshall has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of sexually abusing a young girl in a holiday caravan located in North Yorkshire.

The incident, which occurred over a span of two years from 2020 to 2022, took place at a holiday site in Selby, a town known for its historic significance and scenic surroundings.

Henshall, who resides on Greenacres Drive in Batley, a town in West Yorkshire, had a history of repeatedly changing his pleas during the legal proceedings, which prolonged the case and added to the distress of the victim and her family.

During the trial at York Crown Court in February, Henshall, aged 65, finally admitted to five charges, including sexual assault.

The court's decision on Friday resulted in a sentence of 17 years behind bars, reflecting the severity of his actions and the impact on the young girl involved.

The investigation was led by Detective Constable Sophie Wilson, who expressed her commendation for the victim and her family, emphasizing their bravery in standing up against Henshall and seeking justice.

Det Con Wilson highlighted the difficulties faced during the case, noting that Henshall's repeated attempts to alter his plea only served to extend the suffering of the victim and her loved ones.

She praised the judge's intervention, which ensured that justice was ultimately served.

Wilson also conveyed her hope that the victim and her family could find some measure of solace and strength from the court's ruling, despite the trauma they endured.
