GLASGOW RAPIST SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR CHILDHOOD CRIMES
Vicious rapist who first struck aged 13 jailed for life A violent rapist who first began his crimes as a teenager over 20 years ago has been sentenced to life imprisonment.Gary Gallacher was only 13 when he started his pattern of violence and sexual assault in 1995.
According to the court, he threatened his victims with a knife, then beat and raped them.
Lady Scott, the presiding judge, warned Gallacher, now 34, that he would only be released when he was no longer deemed a threat to the public.
During sentencing, Lady Scott told him: “You have no remorse.
You blame your victims and you do not care about the harm you have inflicted.
You take no responsibility.
You have apparently no wish to change.” She noted that Gallacher was convicted on 25 charges involving three victims, which demonstrated a sustained pattern of physical and sexual violence.
The trial earlier in the year revealed that Gallacher's first attack was in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow.
He continued offending in Glasgow and Ayrshire for 17 years until 2012, despite his aggressive history.
One of his victims described how Gallacher had bound her hands with her school tie and raped her despite her protests that she was too young for sex.
Another victim recounted how he held a knife to her neck and claimed she belonged to him.
The third victim told how Gallacher assaulted her on her 17th birthday, biting and throttling her.
The judge issued a lifelong restriction order, indicating he would only be released if no longer considered a risk, with a minimum of five years to serve in prison.
Gallacher was also placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Det Insp Gillian Faulds emphasized Gallacher’s danger, acknowledging the bravery of his victims in speaking out.
She stated: “Gary Gallacher is a very dangerous individual who carried out a campaign of violence on three partners who will no doubt be affected by the experience for the rest of their lives.
