Gary Dyer

Far Cotton Sexual Abuser

December 2004 Pervert jailed and told to stay away from schools A PAEDOPHILE described by a judge as a menace to young girls has been banned from going within 100 metres of any school or nursery in the country for the next 20 years, and jailed for two years. Gary Dyer, aged 44, of London Road, Far Cotton, was convicted at Northampton Crown Court yesterday for exposing himself from his bedroom window as girls passed his Northampton home in a school bus. He was branded as unrepentant and a consistent menace to young girls by Judge Charles Wide after hearing that Dyer, who has a string of previous sexual offences including unlawful sex with an underage girl and rape in the 1990s, became well known to girls aged as young as 12 years old as they travelled home from Northampton School for Girls. Dyer pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual misconduct, of indecent exposure and outraging public decency, in November, relating to a period between September last year and this May. Pearl Willis, prosecuting, told the court: “On occasions the school bus would have to stop at the traffic lights on London Road. “The occupants of the bus would then see the defendant standing at the window exposing himself.” In May of this year, following another complaint from a coach passenger, a police officer witnessed Dyer standing naked as the school bus approached the house and was then arrested. Sentencing Dyer, Judge Wide told him: “You have an absolutely appalling record and you are a menace to young girls. “You have been before the courts many, many times and you started committing offences of indecent exposure in 1987. “You have about as bad a record as I have come across and, I repeat, you are a menace.” Dyer was sentenced to seven years in prison for rape in 1992 at Reading Crown Court and was found guilty of having sex with an underage girl in 1998. Defending solicitor Robin Pearse-Wheatley said: “The defendant has been in prison for seven months already. “He should have known and recognised that what he considered a bit of a laugh is going to land him in prison.” Dyer was told that he faces up to five years imprisonment if he breaches the order issued to him.
