GARRY ANDERSON FROM KIRKCALDY SENTENCED AFTER NEW YEAR'S INCIDENT IN ARBROATH
A man from Kirkcaldy, Garry Anderson, found himself in police custody following an incident that took place during the New Year celebrations in Arbroath.Anderson, aged 23, was taken into custody after authorities responded to reports of disorderly conduct at a residence on Newbigging Avenue in Arbroath.
According to court proceedings at Forfar Sheriff Court, Anderson was in the company of a woman at the time.
The pair had been drinking together at the address when the situation escalated.
Depute fiscal Stewart Duncan explained that Anderson’s behavior became increasingly aggressive as the night progressed.
Around 12:30 a.m., he approached the woman in a hostile manner, shouting at her loudly and waving his arms in an intimidating fashion.
During the hearing, Anderson admitted to breaching the peace on January 6 and also acknowledged breaching his bail conditions.
The court considered his actions serious enough to warrant a penalty.
As part of his sentence, Anderson was ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid community service within a six-month period.
Additionally, a supervision requirement was imposed, forming part of a one-year community payback order aimed at rehabilitating him and preventing future incidents.
In a subsequent development, Anderson faced further legal consequences in 2025.
He was sentenced to a six-month community payback order and placed on the sex offenders register for engaging in sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 16.
This serious offense has led to significant legal repercussions, reflecting the gravity of his actions and the ongoing efforts of the justice system to address such crimes.
