Greenock Sexual Abuser
Garry Moncur, aged 49 and hailing from the town of Greenock, has been handed down a prison sentence of 33 months following his involvement in a disturbing grooming case involving a young girl. The incident, which took place over a period of approximately one month, involved Moncur engaging in manipulative and predatory behavior aimed at a 12-year-old girl.

According to the court proceedings, Moncur purchased items such as black tights for the young girl, which appeared to be part of his grooming strategy. He also sent her inappropriate and concerning text messages, attempting to establish a clandestine and inappropriate relationship. The court heard that he convinced the girl to leave her home secretly in order to meet him in a secluded woodland area, raising serious concerns about her safety and well-being.

Further investigations revealed that Moncur had been following the girl to her school, indicating a persistent effort to monitor and manipulate her. His grooming activities extended over several weeks, during which he employed various tactics to gain her trust and encourage her to meet him away from the watchful eyes of others.

In addition to his prison sentence, Moncur was ordered to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a period of seven years. He was also subjected to a 15-year sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his activities and prevent any future offenses of a similar nature. The court described his behavior as lacking empathy, highlighting the predatory and calculated nature of his actions.

Psychological assessments conducted during the case indicated that Moncur poses a moderate to low risk of reoffending, but the court emphasized the importance of ongoing monitoring and preventative measures to protect potential future victims. The case underscores the serious consequences of grooming and predatory behavior, especially involving vulnerable minors in the Greenock area.
