GARRY MASON CAUGHT WITH OVER 9000 CHILD PORN IMAGES IN GLASGOW RUTHERGLE AND BAILLIYSTON
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Garry Mason, a 25-year-old man from Glasgow, has pleaded guilty to possessing an alarming collection of over 9,000 indecent images of children.The images, some depicting children as young as three years old, were discovered during a police operation and have led to serious legal consequences for Mason.
Garry Mason was employed at a McDonald's restaurant located on Dalmarnock Road in Rutherglen.
Despite the gravity of his alleged crimes, Mason continued to work at the fast food outlet for several months following his arrest in February, keeping his legal issues hidden from his employers.
It was only after the police investigation that the company was made aware of Mason's situation.
A spokesperson for McDonald's issued a statement on Monday, emphasizing the company's commitment to addressing the matter with utmost seriousness and confirming that an internal investigation was underway.
It has since been confirmed that Mason has left the company.
The police action was initiated after receiving intelligence from Operation NOCAP, which led officers to Mason’s family home in Baillieston.
The police raid uncovered three hard drives containing both still images and videos of child exploitation.
Mason was found living with his parents and a younger brother at this residence.
During questioning at Glasgow Sheriff Court, Mason fully admitted to the charges brought against him.
Prosecutor Hannah Terrance revealed that a comprehensive examination of the seized devices uncovered a total of 9,229 images.
She explained that most of these images were accessible through Mason’s web browsing activity and that they depicted children, both male and female, aged between three and sixteen years.
Garry Mason pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including taking or permitting the taking or making of indecent images of children, as well as possession of such images.
The offences spanned from July 30, 2018, to February 24 of this year.
During the court hearing, Mason’s defense attorney, Tony Callahan, stated that the offences occurred at Mason’s family home, where he resides with his parents and younger brother.
The court, presided over by Sheriff Alan Mackenzie, decided to defer sentencing until next month to allow for the preparation of background reports.
Mason was remanded on bail and was also placed on the sex offenders register as part of the legal proceedings.
