NEWTON AYCLIFFE MAN GETS 10-YEAR BAN FROM KEEPING DOGS
Gareth Stewart, aged 34 and from Newton Aycliffe, was convicted after admitting to inflicting unnecessary suffering on two dogs, named Billy and Rolo, during the period from October 20 to December 3, 2025.
He appeared before Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on July 15, where he received a ten-year prohibition from owning, keeping, or caring for dogs, in accordance with Section 34 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Additionally, Stewart was ordered to pay a fine of £388, along with court costs and a surcharge.
The court determined that Stewart was aware or should have been aware that his actions were likely to cause the animals suffering.
