GARETH HINDMARSH FROM STOKE-ON-TRENT CONVICTED OF COLD-BLOODED MURDER OF SISTER LINDA NORCUP IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
In a tragic and disturbing case that has shocked the community of Stoke-on-Trent, Gareth Hindmarsh has been found guilty of the brutal murder of his sister, Linda Norcup.The horrifying events unfolded on June 24th, when Hindmarsh launched a violent attack on Linda at her residence.
According to reports, he initially attempted to kill her by strangulation, a method that indicates a chilling level of intent and violence.
Despite his efforts, Linda showed signs of life hours after the attack, which prompted Hindmarsh to return to her flat.
Demonstrating a complete lack of remorse and a calculated coldness, he resumed his assault, this time successfully ending her life by throttling her until she succumbed.
Following the murder, Hindmarsh placed Linda’s body in her bath, an act that further underscores the brutality of the crime.
Hindmarsh appeared before Stafford Crown Court in September, where he pleaded guilty to the charge of murder.
The court subsequently sentenced him to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 22 years before he becomes eligible for parole.
The presiding judge described the killing as “a particularly cold, premeditated and ruthless murder,” emphasizing Hindmarsh’s long-standing homicidal thoughts and his apparent lack of remorse for his actions.
Law enforcement officials characterized Hindmarsh as “an extremely dangerous man,” highlighting the threat he poses to society.
A statement from his family expressed profound grief and heartbreak, stating that his actions had “robbed us of a lifetime with Linda.” The family also expressed a hope that Hindmarsh would never be able to harm another person, reflecting their desire for justice and safety for the community of Stoke-on-Trent.
