FREDERICK FINCH FROM EDWINSTOWE JAILED FOR YEARS OF CHILD SEX ABUSE IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Edwinstowe and the wider Nottinghamshire area, a local pensioner has been sentenced to prison for a series of heinous sexual offences committed against two young girls. The individual in question, 76-year-old Frederick Finch, was found guilty of repeatedly abusing the victims over a span of several years, with the abuse occurring when the girls were both under the age of 13.These disturbing incidents took place between 2004 and 2010, during which Finch subjected the girls to multiple acts of sexual assault on separate occasions. Despite the abuse ceasing after 2010, the emotional and psychological scars left on the victims have persisted, with one of the girls explicitly stating that the trauma had “ruined her life.” The impact of Finch’s actions has been profound, affecting the victims well into their adulthood.
Finch’s crimes came to light in 2020, when he was exposed and subsequently investigated. Initially, he denied any wrongdoing, maintaining his innocence despite the mounting evidence against him. His denials persisted until the day of his trial, which took place on 31 January 2022 at Nottingham Crown Court. It was during this trial that Finch finally admitted guilt, pleading guilty to three counts of sexual assault against a child under 13, as well as two counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual acts.
Following his guilty plea, Finch was brought before Nottingham Crown Court once again on Thursday, July 7, for sentencing. The court’s decision reflects the severity of his crimes and the lasting damage inflicted upon his young victims. Finch, who resides at Newbery Close in Edwinstowe, now faces the consequences of his actions, which have left a permanent mark on the lives of those he harmed.
