EAST RENFREWSHIRE MAN ADMITS SENDING SEXUAL MESSAGES TO GIRL
A resident of East Renfrewshire has confessed today to sending inappropriate messages with sexual content to an individual he believed was a 14-year-old girl.Between May 29, 2024, and June 11, 2024, Fraser Brown, who resides on Ormonde Avenue in Netherlee, engaged in sending sexually explicit messages on Snapchat to what he thought was a teenage girl named "Freya" — who was actually an undercover police officer.
During this period, Brown sent images of an erect, naked penis and recordings of himself masturbating.
He also told "Freya" that she was "gorgeous" and expressed a desire to have sex with her.
On June 28, 2024, law enforcement officials raided Brown’s residence following intelligence reports.
His phone and computer were subsequently seized for cybercrime analysis.
Authorities recovered a total of 140 images from his phone, the majority of which depicted female children roughly aged six to 15 years old.
Additionally, 275 videos were retrieved, many of which showed female children estimated to be between five and 15 years old.
On his computer, there were 45 images primarily featuring female children aged roughly six months to 10 years old, along with two videos of girls between five and eight years old.
The Crown presented a request for a sexual harm prevention order to be issued.
The court was informed that Brown’s residence was searched on June 28, 2024, after police received intelligence and his devices were confiscated for analysis by cybercrime specialists.
Sheriff James Spy postponed sentencing until next month to allow for the preparation of a criminal justice social work report and an assessment for a restriction of liberty order.
Meanwhile, Brown has been placed on the sex offender register, and the consideration of the sexual harm prevention order has also been deferred until the same date.
