FRANK ROBB OF ALYTH PERTHSHIRE SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE IN EDINBURGH
An 80-year-old man named Frank Robb, from Alyth, Perthshire, has been convicted of subjecting his much younger, foreign wife to an 18-month course of abuse and harassment after her return from her homeland. The wife had recently dyed her hair and received lip fillers in an effort to 'look more British'. Robb was found to have engaged in a pattern of abusive behavior, including berating his wife and hiding her passport to prevent her from returning to Azerbaijan.Robb, who has previously posted online expressing pro-white and anti-migrant views, was accused of making vile threats and even telling her he wished she was dead. During court proceedings, Sheriff Derek Reekie described Robb's conduct as "an appalling course of conduct in a domestic situation" and admonished him to be "utterly ashamed of yourself." The court sentenced Robb to a 12-month ban on any contact with his ex-wife and ordered him to complete 180 hours of unpaid community service.
Robb admitted to the court that he had engaged in abusive behavior from January 1, 2023, to July 21, 2024. He also confessed to refusing to assist with passports and visas to prevent her from traveling or working. Witnesses reported that Robb was shouting and swearing at a child during this period. The relationship had been turbulent, partly due to Robb's drinking habits.
His initial reaction upon meeting his wife at Edinburgh Airport was to comment on her appearance, saying "what the f*** is that? Look at your lips," after she had lightened her hair and had lip fillers. Also, he called her derogatory names such as "b****" and "fat cow," while insulting her appearance.
Court details revealed that Robb physically grabbed his wife by the collar and threatened to kill her if she took their child to Azerbaijan. He also attempted to hide her passport to prevent her from traveling and claimed financial difficulties as a reason for not resolving passport issues. Furthermore, Robb made it difficult for her to obtain a visa to work in Scotland, effectively exerting control over her employment and travel.
His behavior escalated with shouting and swearing, and at one point, he expressed regret by saying, "I wish you were dead. Everything was great before you came back here. You ruined my life." He also wished harm upon a family cat.
During a holiday in Cornwall, Robb threatened to stop the car and push his wife out, despite her disliking pizza, he suggested they go for it. Tragically, he drove over a baby seagull, killing it, which left his wife feeling helpless, isolated, and uncertain about what to do next.
Eventually, she reported Robb to the police, leading to his arrest. Robb expressed remorse for his actions and apologized, while the victim made it clear she does not wish to have further contact. His solicitor acknowledged his regret and explained his behavior as stemming from financial insecurity, emphasizing that he had learned from this experience.
The court upheld that Robb's conduct was unacceptable and handed down a sentence deemed appropriate given the circumstances.
