FRANK FOLEY SHOCKING EDINBURGH CHILD PORN CASE ENDS IN TRAGEDY
In a tragic turn of events, Frank Foley, a 52-year-old care worker from Edinburgh, took his own life just days after admitting to possessing disturbing child sexual abuse images. The incident unfolded shortly after Foley appeared in Edinburgh’s sheriff court on the morning of Friday, November 20, where he pleaded guilty to charges related to the possession of illicit videos involving young boys and girls.
Foley’s court appearance was a significant moment, as he admitted to having videos with titles such as “pre-teen hardcore” and “11 or 12-year-old boy gay exhibition,” which indicated the disturbing nature of the material he possessed.
The court proceedings had been scheduled for sentencing, but the hearing was deferred last month to allow for reports to be prepared, leaving the case unresolved at that time.
Just two days after his guilty plea, police were called to Foley’s residence in the Craigmillar area of Edinburgh on the afternoon of Sunday, November 22, following reports of his death.
Authorities confirmed that Foley had died by his own hand, and his death was deemed to be without suspicious circumstances.
A police spokesman stated that officers responded to a property on Peffermill Road, where Foley lived with his wife, and found no signs of foul play.
Following the tragic event, police informed the procurator fiscal about Foley’s death.
A police Scotland spokesperson explained, “Around 2pm on Sunday, November 22, officers were called to a property in the Peffermill Road area of Edinburgh following the sudden death of a 52-year-old man.” The spokesperson emphasized that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and that a report had been submitted for further investigation.
Details from the previous court hearing revealed that Foley’s possession of child abuse videos was extensive.
The police had executed a search warrant at his home on January 31, after which they seized a mobile phone belonging to Foley.
Examination of the device uncovered access to videos depicting child rape.
The court was informed that eleven of these videos were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of criminal content.
One of the videos was particularly disturbing, with a title referencing a girl as young as ten years old.
Prosecutors and law enforcement officials expressed their concern over the severity of the material found, highlighting the gravity of Foley’s actions.
The case has left the community in shock, and the tragic end of Foley’s life underscores the devastating impact of such crimes and the importance of ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation.
