FRANK BOYD'S SHOCKING ABUSE IN EDINBURGH: PENSIONER JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING THREE SCHOOLGIRLS OVER 15 YEARS
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Edinburgh, a 73-year-old pensioner named Frank Boyd has been sentenced to prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against three young girls over a span of fifteen years. The crimes, which took place within Boyd's own home in Edinburgh, involved repeated acts of molestation, including touching, groping, and inappropriate physical contact, often occurring when the victims visited his residence.
Boyd's predatory behavior was uncovered after one of the victims confided in a teacher about the abuse she had endured during her visits to his house.
This disclosure prompted a police investigation that eventually revealed a pattern of sexual misconduct stretching back to 2004.
During the investigation, two additional victims came forward, revealing that they, too, had been subjected to Boyd's sexual advances while attending his home in Edinburgh.
At Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month, Boyd, who previously served in the British Army for 25 years, pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual offenses involving the three girls.
The court proceedings continued into the following week, culminating in a sentencing hearing where Sheriff Kenneth McGowan handed down a sentence of 27 months in prison.
Additionally, Boyd was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
Prosecutor Aidan Higgins provided a detailed account of the abuse, beginning with the first victim, who was just 11 years old when Boyd first targeted her in 2004.
The girl’s police statement described how Boyd sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions over a three-year period.
During these incidents, Boyd would often be alone with her, as his wife was reportedly in the kitchen or taking a nap.
The victim recounted that Boyd would encourage her to lie on top of him and would touch her genitals by putting his hands under her clothing.
She admitted that she never told anyone about the abuse at the time, fearing she would upset her family or not be believed.
The second victim, also 11 at the time, began visiting Boyd’s Edinburgh home around 2008.
She described an incident where Boyd climbed into bed with her, and she was forced to push him off after he had touched her genitals.
She also revealed that Boyd had a disturbing fixation on her developing breasts, often brushing her chest with his elbow as she passed by.
The girl explained that she kept her distance from Boyd, asking to be chaperoned to the kitchen to avoid being alone with him, but she did not initially report the abuse, believing Boyd’s reputation as a former soldier and social man would prevent her from being believed.
The third victim was only seven years old when Boyd began abusing her, a campaign that lasted for three years.
The court heard that Boyd deliberately sought opportunities to be alone with her, often in his kitchen or bedroom.
The prosecutor detailed how Boyd would pull her towards him, place his hands over and under her clothing, and handle her body, including her breasts and vagina.
On some occasions, Boyd would get into bed with her and rub his body against her back.
The abuse continued until January 2020, when the young girl finally confided in a teacher at school.
Her disclosure led to the uncovering of Boyd’s earlier offenses against the other victims, revealing a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior that spanned many years.
This case has highlighted the grave dangers posed by individuals who exploit positions of trust and respect within their communities.
Boyd’s actions have left lasting scars on the victims, and his sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and safeguarding for vulnerable children in Edinburgh and beyond.
