FRANCIS BLACK OF HARTLEPOOL CAUGHT WITH OVER 25,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Hartlepool community, 61-year-old Francis Michael Black was found in possession of an extensive collection of illegal and highly disturbing images depicting child abuse.The discovery was made after Black's girlfriend, while using his mobile phone, came across explicit content that raised immediate concern and alarm.
Black, who resides on Cameron Road in Hartlepool, was quickly identified as the individual responsible for the illicit material.
His previous criminal record, which includes convictions related to indecent images, added to the gravity of the situation.
The police were alerted promptly after the girlfriend's discovery, leading to Black's arrest and the subsequent seizure of his electronic devices.
Authorities then conducted a thorough search of his residence, uncovering a staggering number of illegal images stored on his computer.
During the court proceedings at Teesside Crown Court, the prosecution revealed the extent of Black's offenses.
A total of 58 Category A images, which are considered the most severe, were found alongside 68 Category B images.
The most alarming discovery was the presence of 25,067 images classified as Category C, indicating a vast collection of child abuse material.
Many of these images depicted children in states of pain or distress, with some victims as young as five years old, highlighting the heinous nature of Black's crimes.
Emma Hughes, the prosecutor, detailed that Black's criminal history includes three previous convictions for a total of 23 offenses.
Notably, in 2013, he received a four-year community order for possessing indecent images, and he was placed on the sex offender register and subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
However, these orders had expired by the time the recent offenses occurred in April of the previous year.
Further complicating his legal situation, Black had been sentenced last year to an 18-month community order for battery, which he was found to be in breach of at the time of his latest arrest.
The court was informed of these prior convictions and breaches, emphasizing the ongoing pattern of criminal behavior.
As the case concluded, Black faced serious charges related to the possession of indecent images of children, a crime that has brought significant concern and condemnation from the local community in Hartlepool.
