GLASGOW MAN JAILED FOR GROOMING TEENAGE BOYS AND POSSESSING INDECENT IMAGES
A former charity worker is behind bars after he was convicted of grooming a teenage boy.Fionn McKee, 52, preyed on his victim at his home in Glasgow's Govan between March 2020 and March 2022.Film and TV logistics manager McKee assisted the boy from the age of 14 or 15 with alcohol, cigarettes, and money.McKee was also romantically involved with the victim, whom he claimed he believed was 18.The former Ministry of Defence employee was found guilty of arranging to meet three teenage boys for the purpose of sexual activity.He was additionally convicted of engaging in sexual acts with one of the boys and possessing indecent images of children.The court heard that McKee, who worked for Humanitarian Disaster Relief, met the first boy via social media in March 2020.McKee claimed he believed the boy to be 18, but in reality, he was 14 or 15 years old.
McKee explained that the boy didn't seem to be the age he was, citing his broad shoulders and moustache as indicators.He stated that their "friendship" turned sexual and claimed it was consensual.
McKee told his defense lawyer Lewis Kennedy that he bought cigarettes for the boy and drank alcohol at his house.
He also mentioned that the boy smoked cannabis there but did not provide it himself, and that he gave him money via online bank transfer.The prosecutor, Sean Docherty, questioned McKee about a cybercrime report on his phone calendar, which had an entry with the boy's name and "17th" after it.
McKee claimed it was a typo.
Evidence showed the boy's age was written on a card given to him by McKee.
When asked if he was aware of the boy's true age, McKee replied "No and it didn't".
He also admitted to meeting two other boys and having them over to his house, although he denied any sexual interest towards them.It was revealed that McKee has a previous conviction for drink driving from two years ago.
The sheriff called his behavior "predatory and devious," stating, "You are a danger to young vulnerable boys and the custodial threshold has been passed for the offences.
You are no longer a candidate for bail and you will be remanded in custody." Sentence was deferred until the following month for background reports.
