FAROUKH YOUSUF SENTENCED IN LEICESTER FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF SCHOOLGIRL
In November 2016, a disturbing case unfolded in Leicester involving a man named Faroukh Yousuf, who was convicted of heinous sexual offenses against a young schoolgirl. The court proceedings revealed a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned over two months during the previous year, leaving a lasting impact on the victim and the community alike.
Faroukh Yousuf, aged 47 and residing on Loughborough Road in Leicester, faced multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of a girl under the age of 13.
The jury at Leicester Crown Court deliberated extensively before reaching verdicts on the majority of the counts.
Yousuf was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault, with the jury's majority verdicts being 11-1 in favor of conviction.
Additionally, he was convicted of causing or inciting the same child to engage in sexual activity, with a majority verdict of 10-2.
Throughout the trial, Yousuf maintained his innocence, denying all allegations and claiming that no indecent acts had taken place.
He insisted that the young girl, who was only 10 years old at the time, was fabricating the story.
Prosecutor Philip Gibbs outlined the case, emphasizing that Yousuf had instructed the girl not to disclose what had happened, thereby attempting to conceal his misconduct.
The victim provided harrowing testimony over the course of a six-day trial, describing in detail how Yousuf had assaulted her and touched her inappropriately.
The court also heard that on another occasion, Yousuf exposed himself to the girl and attempted to carry out an assault.
Fortunately, the incident was interrupted when another individual approached the area where the abuse was taking place, preventing further harm.
Judge Ebraham Mooncey delivered the sentence, condemning Yousuf's actions as involving planning, grooming, and manipulation.
The judge highlighted the devastating effect on the young girl, stating, “She says she’s now scared of ‘everything,’ and her schooling has been severely affected.
She struggles with her mental health and spends a lot of time alone.” Judge Mooncey emphasized that such crimes should never occur, especially when committed by someone who exploited the girl’s naivety for their own gratification.
He condemned Yousuf’s denial, noting, “You, for your own pleasure, did those things she has accused you of.
You said that she was a liar.” While acknowledging that Yousuf was previously of good character before these events, the judge also recognized the profound impact his incarceration would have on his family.
As part of his sentence, Yousuf was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was placed under a lifelong sexual harm prevention order, underscoring the severity of his crimes and the community’s need for ongoing protection.
