In July 2014, Farman Saeed appeared before Kirklees Magistrates’ Court charged with flashing at schoolgirls on their way to the Abu Bkr Mosque near his residence in Paddock.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to three charges of exposure, with the court hearing that these offences spanned an eight-month period.

Prosecutor Vanessa Jones explained that the incidents were particularly disturbing because they were witnessed by 14-year-old girls walking to the mosque, which is just two doors away from Saeed’s home on Church Street.

Mrs Jones described a statement from one of the girls, who said, “A few times going to the mosque she heard banging at the window of his flat. When she looked over, she saw that he was naked. He raised his leg and she could see his genitals.”

She added that on another occasion, the same girl was walking past with a friend when the girls heard banging from Saeed’s flat again, and this time saw him standing at the front door without clothing.

Furthermore, the girls reportedly observed Saeed sitting cross-legged at the entrance to his property, completely naked.

The prosecutor highlighted that the girls felt very embarrassed by these incidents.

Saeed’s solicitor, Emily Price, mentioned that her client has a complex and challenging history, and that a psychiatric report examining his mental state had previously been obtained.

District Judge Michael Fanning ordered a comprehensive report on Saeed’s mental health prior to his sentencing scheduled for August 27.

The judge also indicated that custody remains a possibility and that Saeed could be referred to the crown court for sentencing.

As a result of these convictions, Saeed has been placed on the sex offenders’ register.
