FAISAL KHAN'S VIOLENT ATTACK IN PETERBOROUGH: A NINE-YEAR-OLD BOY'S NIGHTMARE
In a shocking incident that has left the community of Peterborough in distress, Faisal Khan, a 26-year-old man from Dogsthorpe, carried out a brutal and unprovoked assault on a young boy.The attack occurred on the afternoon of May 8 last year, when the nine-year-old was simply walking along Peveril Road with his older brother.
According to reports, Khan began following the children as they strolled through the neighborhood shortly after 3 pm.
Without any apparent reason or provocation, he overtook the pair, then doubled back to face them directly.
It was at this moment that Khan pulled a knife from his pocket and launched into a violent assault.
He grabbed the young boy and proceeded to stab him multiple times, targeting his face, head, and hands.
The attack was relentless and continued until residents nearby started to emerge from their homes, alarmed by the commotion.
Sensing the danger, Khan fled the scene, discarding a bloodied knife on a driveway in Alexandra Road.
The young victim sustained approximately 15 stab wounds during the assault.
Emergency services responded swiftly, airlifting the boy to a hospital where he underwent specialized reconstructive surgery.
Despite the medical intervention, he was left with severe, life-changing injuries, including permanent scarring that will serve as a reminder of that terrifying day.
Following his arrest, Khan was deemed unfit to be interviewed by police at the time.
Nevertheless, he later pleaded guilty to attempted murder during a court hearing at Peterborough Crown Court on May 30.
His case was subsequently transferred to Cambridge Crown Court, where on July 1, he was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order.
This means he will only be released once authorities determine he no longer poses a threat to the public, ensuring ongoing safety for the community of Peterborough.
