September 2018 Man jailed for child sex exploitation offences A man has been locked up for five years after admitting multiple child sexual exploitation offences. Fahim Patel, 24, formerly of Kedleston Road, Leicester, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court after he had pleaded guilty to 11 offences. He admitted: Three counts of making indecent images of a child Two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a girl aged under 16 Two counts of possessing extreme pornographic images One count of attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming One count of attempting to cause/incite a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity One count of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a girl under 16 One count of causing a child to watch a sexual act. The offences were committed between 16 October 2017 and 23 March 2018 Three of the offences relate to when police arrested Patel in Beeston on 23 March 2018. The court heard how Patel had engaged in sexual conversation online with someone he believed to be 13-year-old girl. He was actually communicating with a decoy from a paedophile hunting team Patel arranged to meet the child in Beeston on 23 March. When he arrived he was confronted by group Police were called and he was arrested on suspicion of attempting to meet a girl aged under 16 following grooming, attempting to cause/incite a girl aged 13-15 to engage in sexual activity and attempting to engage in sexual communications with a girl aged under 16. Patel’s mobile phone and media devices were seized and reviewed as part of the police investigation and further offences were discovered. A number of conversations containing sexual communication were stored on his phone, including with individuals aged under 16. The court heard that in some of these conversations he made threats to rape the people he was speaking to. Indecent images and extreme pornography were also found on other devices which police seized from Patel for examination. As well as his prison sentence Patel was made subject of a sexual harm prevention order for eight years and must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
