DUNFERMLINE MAN ETHAN CARTWRIGHT ABUSES PARTNER WITH BRUTALITY AND KNIFE POSSESSION
A man from Dunfermline, identified as 24-year-old Ethan Cartwright, has been accused of subjecting his partner to a prolonged and violent period of domestic abuse that spanned over two years.The incidents, which took place at various addresses within Dunfermline, involved a disturbing pattern of aggressive and threatening behavior that caused significant physical and emotional harm to the victim.
Cartwright appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court to face charges related to his abusive conduct.
He pleaded guilty to engaging in a sustained course of abusive actions towards his partner from November 6, 2020, through November 11, 2022.
The court was informed that during this period, he exhibited a range of violent and controlling behaviors, including shouting at her, headbutting her, biting her on the body, and demanding access to her mobile phone.
His violence escalated to physical restraint, as he pinned her to a bed and pushed her face into a mattress, actions that caused her visible distress.
Further allegations detailed that Cartwright had seized her by the throat, applying pressure that restricted her breathing, and had grabbed her mouth and nose.
He also punched her on the head and body, and physically restrained her against a fence.
His assault tactics included striking her with his knee, grabbing her by the hair, and pushing her against a wall.
Throughout these episodes, he made abusive remarks, threatened to kill himself, and damaged her clothing, all of which contributed to her injuries and trauma.
In addition to the domestic abuse charges, Cartwright admitted to possessing a knife unlawfully on October 21 of the previous year at Kirkgate.
This possession was also part of the court proceedings, highlighting a pattern of dangerous behavior.
Sheriff Charles Macnair ordered that reports be prepared before sentencing.
Ethan Cartwright remains in custody and will be sentenced on June 8, with the court ensuring that he remains detained until that date to prevent further harm.
