ERLANDAS MAJAUSKAS FROM OLDBURY SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES
In December of the previous year, authorities conducted a significant operation at the residence of Erlandas Majauskas, a 26-year-old man originally from Lithuania, residing in Oldbury. The police action was initiated following a credible tip-off that led them to his sister's home on Temple Way, where Majauskas was known to frequently visit or stay.During the raid, officers discovered that Majauskas was actively using the premises, particularly accessing his computer, which was central to the investigation. The suspect returned to the property while law enforcement officials were still present, prompting his immediate arrest. The subsequent forensic analysis of his computer revealed disturbing evidence: seven videos classified as among the most severe forms of child pornography, depicting children aged between eight and 14 engaged in explicit acts. In addition, investigators found 23 moving images displaying extreme pornography, further highlighting the severity of the material stored on his device.
Majauskas admitted to downloading all the illicit content found on his computer. He was identified as the sole individual with access to the device, holding the password himself, and he took full responsibility for the possession and creation of the indecent images. The police confirmed that he was the only person involved in the criminal activity related to the material.
He was charged with two counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possessing extreme pornography. The court proceedings revealed that Majauskas, who resides on Waterloo Road in Smethwick and was previously considered of good character, pleaded guilty to all charges.
In sentencing, Judge James Burbidge QC imposed a two-year community order, which includes participation in rehabilitation programs designed to address and potentially curb his interest in such material. Additionally, he was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and pay costs amounting to £535. The judge emphasized that Majauskas’s lack of prior offending history and his acceptance of responsibility were significant factors in the decision, stating, “You have no history of offending and took full responsibility for what you had done. This will ensure the public are best protected.”
