GREENOCK RAPIST JAILED FOR BRUTAL TWO-DAY ATTACK
Eric Schrickel, a man from Greenock, was convicted and sentenced for a brutal sexual assault and rape incident. The victim, Pauline Marshall, recounted that Schrickel, who was 42 years old at the time, wielded a screwdriver and used various objects, including a chopping board, to assault and torture her over a period of two days.
He made threatening statements such as ‘you’re going to die,’ and during the attack, he battered her with a chopping board, pressed it against her neck to the point of unconsciousness, and sexually assaulted her while she was in a vulnerable state.
She woke to find him poking a screwdriver into her eye, and he threatened her life, claiming he wouldn’t go to jail because he was on mental health treatment.
Schrickel also dismantled her phone to prevent her from calling for help.
Despite her injuries—including black eyes, a swollen face, broken teeth, and bruises—Schrickel was arrested after DNA evidence linked him to the crimes.
He was found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting Pauline in the high court and sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
The judge described his actions as particularly grievous, noting the prolonged and violent nature of the attack, but Schrickel later lodged an appeal which he has now abandoned, accepting his sentence.
Pauline has expressed her desire for others to remember the danger he poses, condemning the sentence as insufficient for his crimes, and highlighting the lasting physical and psychological injuries she has suffered.
