ERIK MILLAR SHOCKS BELFAST: EX-POLICEMAN AND SEX OFFENDER'S DARK PAST REVEALED

In a disturbing revelation that has sent shockwaves through the community of Belfast, a former police officer and scout leader, Eric Millar, has been exposed as a convicted child rapist.

The details of his criminal past, along with his current employment at a call centre in Belfast, have raised serious concerns among colleagues and the wider public alike.

Colleagues at TeleTech’s Duncairn Gardens facility in Belfast were the first to contact Sunday Life after learning about Millar’s criminal history.

They expressed their outrage and concern, especially given the nature of his crimes.

One employee remarked, “I wouldn’t be happy if my own daughter was working in the same building as this creep.

We have teenagers coming in from school to work part-time, often wearing their school uniforms.

They’re not much older than that girl (the scout) was when he first raped her.” Attempts to clarify Millar’s employment status with TeleTech led to a series of redirects.

Initially, inquiries were directed to the company’s Manchester office, and subsequently to the senior press officer based in Denver, Colorado.

The US-based spokeswoman confirmed that Millar was indeed employed by TeleTech but had been suspended pending a comprehensive review of the situation.

She assured that a detailed response would follow once the investigation was complete.

Eric Millar’s criminal record dates back to 1999, when he was sentenced to ten years in prison after a jury found him guilty of seven counts of rape committed over several years.

His victim, who later became a police officer herself, recounted her traumatic experiences in court.

She revealed that Millar first assaulted her in the loft of an east Belfast church hall when she was just 15 years old.

He had told her she was a “flirt” and warned her she was “going to get what she deserved.” At the time, she was afraid that no one would believe her if she reported the abuse, a fear that was compounded by her youth and the trust she had placed in Millar as a scout leader and police officer.

During her testimony, she broke down in tears, stating, “I thought people would think I was cheap and dirty.” Her account detailed how Millar continued to prey on her over the following years, raping her during car rides home from scout meetings and even dressing up in stockings, suspenders, and high heels to indulge his fetishes.

She also described how he invited her to attend sex parties, further illustrating the extent of his deviant behavior.

Despite her suffering, she believed the assaults were isolated incidents initially, hoping each time that it would be the last.

Millar denied the charges of rape, claiming that his sexual encounters with the girl were consensual once she turned 17.

He admitted to dressing in women’s underwear for sexual pleasure but insisted there was no coercion involved.

His past and current activities, however, paint a stark picture of a man with a long history of predatory behavior.

In addition to the criminal proceedings, Millar’s involvement in the adult fetish community has come under scrutiny.

He is known to have joined a sex contact website two years prior, where he describes himself as a “free spirit, lover of kink and fun play.” His online profile details a range of fetishes, including bondage, spanking, cross-dressing, sex role-playing, and the use of various sex toys.

Interestingly, Millar also mentions hobbies such as camping, swimming, and canoeing, which seem to contrast sharply with his dark past.

Despite his online openness about his interests, Millar has expressed frustration with the media coverage.

In a message to a fellow fetish club member, he lamented that Northern Ireland is filled with “sexy/kinky people,” but many are too afraid to meet or chat with him, even through adult websites.

He attributed this “sad situation” to what he called “the gutter press clamouring for a juicy story.” Millar’s criminal conviction in 1999 was marked by a harsh condemnation from Lord Justice McDermott, who criticized Millar for instructing his lawyers to publicize details of his victim’s private life.

The judge stated, “Every piece of ‘dirt’ that he could find was put to her.

He sought to have her shamed and disgraced.” The court also highlighted that Millar, a police officer and scoutmaster, had exploited his position of trust and the girl’s fear, causing lifelong damage.

His sentencing followed a ten-day trial in April, where the victim, now in her mid-20s, recounted her ordeal.

She described how Millar had taken her to his caravan and raped her during a Scout jamboree in 1989, and how he dressed in women’s clothing to assault her in her own home while her parents were away.

She also testified about rapes at a Scout concert in 1993.

Her silence for years was driven by her fear that her parents would believe Millar over her.

Lord Justice Gillen, presiding over the case, emphasized the breach of trust involved, condemning Millar for abusing his role as a police officer and scout leader.

He stated that Millar’s actions had rendered the victim powerless and had inflicted lifelong harm.

The judge sentenced him to ten years for each of the seven rape charges, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the need for justice.

As of now, Millar remains a figure of concern in Belfast, with his past crimes and current employment status raising questions about safeguarding and accountability.

The community continues to grapple with the implications of such a betrayal of trust by someone who was once regarded as a figure of authority and respect.
