A man named Eren Erenbilge, aged 27, was involved in repeated acts of sexual harassment against a legal secretary during her morning commute on the Central Line.
According to Southwark Crown Court, Erenbilge groped his 23-year-old victim on two separate occasions after stalking her for more than a month.
He was convicted of two counts of sexual assault and was considered to pose a 'high risk of serious harm to the public in terms of sexual offending' based on a probation report.
Despite this, he was given a lenient sentence of eight months in jail, suspended for two years.
The court also ordered him to sign up for a one-to-one course to address his sexual offending and banned him from approaching his victim.
Judge Deborah Taylor described his behaviour as 'disturbing and upsetting' and noted that following and targeting a stranger over a month was an aggravating feature of the offences.
However, she acknowledged that the offences were carried out in public and without physical violence, which influenced the sentencing decision.
