HARROGATE PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN
A 'monster' whose sexual offences against children left them facing lifelong trauma has been jailed for more than 21 years.
In a personal statement one victim described how she had at one point been so mentally affected she had ended up in hospital.
She told Taylor, whom she described as a “monster”, 'You destroyed my innocence.' When he had pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him, “you decided to take what little I had left and put me through hell,” the victim said.
The victims had to give evidence against Taylor about exactly what he had done to them before the jury had convicted him of what one of the victims called “the most heinous crimes imaginable”.
Another victim said of Taylor: “He took away my innocence before I even knew what it was.” The court heard Taylor, 64, of Skipton Road, Harrogate, denied six charges of indecent assault, two of indecency with a child and three of sexual assault but was convicted by a jury in February.
He was jailed for 21 and a half years plus a two-year extension to his parole, with the court hearing he will not be released until he has served at least two-thirds of his sentence.
He will be on the sex offenders’ register for life and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order curbing his behaviour and to a restraining order banning him from any contact with his victims, now adults, for 15 years.
He was also barred from working with children and vulnerable adults.
His barrister Susannah Proctor stated he had no other sexual convictions and had not offended since the abuse.
His wife would suffer because of his imprisonment since he had been her carer.
While in prison, he had a job in waste management.
