ELLIOTT SMITH FROM GLOUCESTER FACES JAIL AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT ON BOY
In a case that has shocked the community of Gloucester, Elliott Smith, a 22-year-old resident of Bedford Street, has admitted to committing a sexual assault against a young boy.The incident, which took place over a span of several years from 2011 to 2014, has now led to Smith facing potential imprisonment.
Smith's criminal history complicates his current situation, as he is already under a suspended sentence for possessing indecent images of children.
This prior conviction was brought to light during the proceedings at Gloucester Crown Court, where Judge Jason Taylor QC presided over the case on Thursday.
During the hearing, Smith pleaded guilty to the charges of sexual assault, acknowledging his misconduct.
The court was informed of the details surrounding the assault, which involved a minor victim over a period of three years, highlighting the severity and duration of the abuse.
Following the guilty plea, Judge Taylor decided to adjourn the sentencing to a later date, specifically to March 21, to allow for an update from probation services regarding Smith's compliance and progress concerning his existing court order.
Smith was granted bail until that scheduled hearing, providing him with temporary freedom while awaiting the final decision.
However, the judge issued a stern warning to Smith, stating, “I make no promises whatsoever for sentence.
All options are open to the court.” This statement underscored the seriousness of the case and the potential for a significant custodial sentence, depending on the outcome of the upcoming review and sentencing hearing.
