North Shore Rapist
In October 2017, Elliott Charles Brian Jones, a 30-year-old from Warley Road, North Shore, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after being convicted of raping two primary school-aged children. A judge described him as “cunning, pitiless and remorseless” during his sentencing.

Jones had told an eight-year-old girl, “I will smack you, I will hit you,” prior to carrying out a brutal assault. Preston Crown Court heard that he also threatened his second victim, a vulnerable seven-year-old boy, warning him that he would “batter him” and “smash his Xbox” as he attacked him.

Jones was found guilty of committing four rapes on the girl and four on the boy after a trial earlier this year. He had previously been reported missing before the start of the trial but was later arrested following a police appeal.

It was revealed that Jones had a prior conviction from 2003 for indecently assaulting two six-year-old children.

Judge Robert Altham, who classified Jones as a dangerous offender, imposed an extended sentence of 25 years along with an additional five-year license period. The judge stated, “It seems to me this package of special measures is the very least the public needs. What really persuades me he is dangerous is the nature of these offences. It’s plain from the victim’s statements he has already brought these two children an immeasurable amount of harm. He has absolutely no insight whatsoever into his condition. He will only be released if the parole board rules he is safe to be released.”

Prosecutor Paul Cummings added, “Both children were under 13. There is a suggestion of threats of violence being made.”
