ELLEN HORNE CAERPHILLY SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR SEXTING AND ARRANGING THREESOME WITH 14-YEAR-OLD BOY
In December 2016, a disturbing case emerged involving Ellen Horne, a 46-year-old woman from Caerphilly, Wales, who found herself at the center of a serious criminal investigation related to online sexual misconduct.Horne, a mother of three, believed she was engaging in explicit exchanges with a teenage boy named Sam, but the reality was far more sinister and complex.
Horne had been sending sexually explicit images of herself, including photographs of her performing sexual acts, to what she thought was a 14-year-old boy.
She also discussed the possibility of a threesome involving herself, the boy, and an older man.
Her actions were driven by a desire for excitement and validation, as she admitted to police that she derived a “thrill” from the attention she received through these exchanges.
However, her confidence was shattered when she was arrested and learned that she was not communicating with a teenage boy at all, but with an older man named Stuart Bailey.
The case was brought before Cardiff Crown Court, where Horne faced charges related to attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act.
The court heard that her online interactions were not only explicit but also manipulative, as she believed she was corresponding with a minor.
Prosecutor Jim Davis explained that Bailey had introduced her to a boy called Sam Davies, who was purportedly interested in older women.
Bailey provided Horne with an email address linked to the false identity.
During police interviews, Horne admitted to sending explicit messages and photographs to “Sam,” believing him to be 14 years old.
In reality, the account was operated by Bailey himself.
The email exchanges revealed a pattern of sexual conversations, with “Sam” requesting explicit images of her performing oral sex and other sexual acts.
Horne complied, sending photographs of herself engaged in such acts, and even agreed to participate in a threesome with the boy and Bailey.
Despite her claims that she believed she was communicating with a minor and that she did not intend to meet or carry out the threesome, her actions were deemed highly inappropriate and criminal.
She stated to officers that she “got a thrill from the attention” because she believed she was pleasing a young boy, unaware of the deception involved.
Judge Eleri Rees delivered the sentence, emphasizing the dangers of engaging in online dating and the risks of deception.
She condemned Horne’s actions, highlighting the potential for her to have had a corrupting influence on a minor, especially given her age and position.
The judge pointed out that Horne had been duped herself, but that did not absolve her of responsibility for her conduct.
Horne was sentenced to 12 months in prison after admitting to the charge of attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act.
Her case serves as a stark warning about the perils of online interactions and the importance of vigilance when engaging with strangers on the internet, particularly on dating sites where identities can be easily fabricated.
